Blaptica dubia... serious ID question

Okay, I take that back. I just took a closer look at my dubias, and there are some slight differences. I tried to pick a good sample of what I've got. Here are three where you can see one has lighter-colored wings, one has a darker head pattern, and then two have noticeable orange patterning on their heads where even the patterning is different. Keep in mind, I obtained my colony from only one source.





And then here's a pic of the E. prosticus orange heads for good measure.

Beautiful pics, xelda... I think you just handily answered my questions! :) Basically, those male B. dubia could have crawled right out of my tub... those are exactly the types of coloration differences I was talking about. And thank you for confirming that the Orange Heads (E. prosticus) have almost entirely orange pronotums (pronota?) ... I will sleep soundly tonight knowing my B. dubia are pure...

I'm thinking there must be a decent amount of coloration variance in most of these roach species... notice how even those E. prosticus have quite different black patterns on their pronotum.

sorry about the mix up everyone i did not have my glasses on at the time i looked at the pictures :wall: :wall: there are the same just different color shades ..
