We keep getting black wasps in the house. One time we actually had a tarantula hawk in our house! Scary! I know we have two wasps nests on our porch but could the wasps be coming from there? Not sure really what kind of wasps they are but they are black. I've seen several different kinds. I'm not trying to look for an ID of them just curious as to how to keep them out! It's quite an adventure trying to get them out or sadly kill them. Tonight I caught one in a cup after my mom tried to smash it with a fly swatter (never works just one hit) it was a little disoriented and scared. I took it outside and threw the cup in the grass and ran for safety! LOL

Any one know how to keep wasps out of your house? How can we get rid of the wasp nests with out pissing the wasps off and getting attacked??

im not really sure how to keep them out, but what i do when they get in, is i take a pair of feeding tongs/tweezers and wait til the wasp has landed and grab hold of one of the wings, then open the door and toss..

Tongs or mason jars are how I catch most of mine but I can always wear my bee gloves (I keep honey bees) and just grab the sucker if it's being stubborn. :p

As for how to keep them out...last resort, kill the nest. You can't really relocate wasps (paper wasps I assume). Other than closing any small gaps in windows and doors you probably won't be able to keep them out either. Good luck though.

Look for those "small gaps"-they are getting in somewhere.

And look for overlooked leavings that wasps like to eat-you may very well be attracting them.

Or attracting insects that wasps eat.

Or luring them with light-if they "buzz" the same window curtaining the area might calm them down.
