B. Giganteus grow and breed slowly, perfect for you. :)

IguanaMama, did you know Porcelin adults sometimes vary in color. I saw a pic of one that was pinkish color! The usual is brown, and sometimes yellow.
YUP! I have a couple that have bright yellow borders and pink ones too. That's what I like about them, the nymphs are pretty too. They fly though, sometimes I have to chase them.

Wow that sucker is huge! I'm keeping peppereds right now, but wonder if giants would be more interesting. They are both large, slow growing roaches though. LOL

How common are true giganteus(not hybrids) in the US?

OldHag I have my giganteus in my room, and people think i'm weird, lol. At night I hear them running around and digging, along with munching on the apples.

I'm hoping to upgrade from a 10 gallon to a 20 gallon for my 9 roaches. Do you have any photos of the baby roaches, I would love to see them.

Iguanamama, how far did the roaches fly? I heard they are true flyers and fly at any sudden movements, that must be fun. :p It would be cool if you posted pictures of all your roach species.

Hey Bugman. Heres my old male (Hes a bit tattered round the edges  ) and a baby. This baby is about 2 months old. So it started out smaller than what it is now. Not a very good pic, but they would NOT hold still!!!

Thanks for the picture! I imagine they are born about the size of a fingernail, thats pretty small for such a large roach. :)

The porcelains don't fly far and I can catch them easily. The green bananas can go fast and sometimes end up on the ceiling and I have to really start shooing them down with a broom or something. I've gotten more carefull about letting them escape, but it sometimes happens. I've lost a couple. I am waiting for the day that I afford a new digital camera. We bought one on the recommendation of the sales clerk at B&H Photo and it STINKS I was never able to use it. I told him specifically what I wanted it for, but it doesn't focus well close up and the flash washes everything out, I just can't figure out how to get a good picture out of it. Notice the lack of a picture thread for me. Ironically I was a photography major in college. I kept saying that I need something with a good telephoto and they kept insisting that I needed good macro. I believe I was correct, due to the lighting issues.

I just got a few tiny nymphs, anyone know how they do with hissers? I'd prefer to keep them in with the hissers just cause it would be one less tank.

Where did your friend get them that they were wild caught? Does your friend live outside the U.S.?

Usually all roaches people order are captive bred, and their wild caught ancestors are more than 4 generations ago.
