Yes, I've been converted

I now appreciate them so much. Before I just viewed them as pooping on my car machines. Even got hit on the shoulder with bird poop by a flyby when I was a kid.

Life would be dull without all the different songbirds and their calls and their pretty colors.

I have always loved birds when I was little if I was good my mum would take me to the local pond to feed the swans, it started a life long love of all birds.

I don't think I could ever keep one as a pet birds aren't ment to be caged but watching n listening to them flit about my garden is one of my happy places .

thank the gods for chickadees because when there is winter, there usualy is nothing else to look at.

We get red robins in the Winter and we get blue tit, they’re pretty ones. I like swans too, herons and kingfishers are interesting. There’s place called Puffin island not too far away and you can see puffins there.

I don’t like crows though, they’re bad for trying to eat a lamb’s eyes

Love em'! We have Chickadee's here in CT, you can get them to eat seeds out of your hand. Very cool bird, I have been meaning to get a tattoo of one for a while now.

I feed heavy... multiple feeders for the different birds, & around here, the Chickadees ESPECIALLY love thistle (nyjer) seeds. I always fill that one last, because as soon as I touch the first one you can start hearing all the birdies start telling each other about it from the branches, & there'll often be one waiting somewhere. I'll take a handful (of thistle), & just hold it outstretched for a minute...sure enough, he'll come & land on my finger, & help himself to a few seeds before flying off to let me fill his tube for him. The finches love it too, but only the Chickadee ever lands on me. Just have to make sure I don't fill the tube first, as he won't take the chance given the option, LoL.
They do love that thistle, though. Lots of little birds do. I'm lucky enough to have two Wild Birds Unlimited stores near me, along with an independent, so I can always source the high quality stuff; all black, & shiny. The stuff from Lowe's & Home Depot & the like is all dull, shriveled, & brown... definitely not as eagerly devoured.
My daughter has several conures, & sometimes I'll steal a spray of their millet to share with the ones outside. They seem to really enjoy that, as well.
Birds are awesome, especially this time of year, when the windows are open a crack over night, & you can hear their calls starting again just before dawn breaks. Gotta be one of the best things to sleep to, LoL

Crows are smart should give them a try if you feed them they will bring gifts to swap for food.
Plus sheep are evil you ever been bitten by a sheep? I have it hurts more then you would think .
When I was little my mum took me to a farm, had a petting corner could feed pigs horses rabbits n sheep. Mum was walking over with the food for them, little pellet things. The sheep rammed her took her over n they all started biting her pulling her clothes hair ect to get at the food. I tried to help her but I was 5 and got bit n kicked several times trying to get near her. Needless to say never trusted sheep since . Much rather have a crow friend then a sheep one .

My brother lives in Rosedale, which is a suburb of Toronto. His wife feeds a murder of crows that resides in the area, & has done so for years; this I know to be true, & they've mentioned gifts -usually in the form of garbage - that they'll bestow upon her, apparently as thanks. Well, supposedly one day, one of them gave her a $5, & she thought it was hilarious, so gave them their good bread (she buys them cheap bread specifically, & I know this to be true) that day, & even smeared some peanut butter on it. According to her, after that, they started to bring money routinely, & it only stopped when they took their yearly trip down to Florida (where they have a trailer,& stay for like 6 weeks). She's of the thought that the crows made the connection between the gift they gave her, & the treat they received in return, & speculated that they were getting the money from the tips left on the outside tables of the restaurants just a couple blocks away.
This would be cool if it were true, & I can't say that it isn't, but... she's been known to sprinkle the truth with some artistry...to be polite, LoL

You can watch stuff on Crows you can actually teach them to take specific items apparently, I have only just started n so far haven't gotten anything but I am hopeful, they spend alot of time on my roof .

Keep in mind Merlin is a great tool but not always accurate. If you have birds in the area which are good mimics take any other Id with a huge grain of salt.
