I was wondering if a bird cage with substrate, and the sides lined with plexiglass(Spelling) will make a good home for like a pinktoe or any other Aboreal sp.

When I saw this query, I was reminded of the old movie Kiss of the Tarantula, whose heroine keeps her B. smithi in cages!

I think such a set-up could be made to work, but it would be a great deal of trouble--more trouble than simply buying a pet-pal or aquarium, and probably more expensive, too, once you got done buying the plexiglass.

Plus, if you glued the plexiglass together, you wouldn't need the bird cage!
