I'm new to the hobby and have purchased from Palp Friction, Fear not Tarantulas and know about Jamie's tarantulas. I've also heard good and bad about "Ken the Bug Guy".

I'm looking for an Aphonopelma Chalcoldes, (female sling or juvenile, preferably) for my collection and none of the above mentioned vendors offer any, except for Ken the Bug Guy.

Does anyone have any other options, tried or otherwise?

Thanks in advance.

Tony

There are way too many great sellers to list them...just check the classifieds...everyone selling here is required to have a review page.

The moderators don't mean to be unfriendly. They get asked the same questions from beginners over and over again so their answers tend to be short and to the point.

You might want to check in with @Sushidragons; I just purchased a female A. chalcodes from her last week and she arrived perfectly in meticulous packing. Definitely worth looking into the classified ads here before you check out the bigger vendors as you will find Ts for literally 1/2 to 3/4 the price that the Big Names sell them for (speaking from a very painful, wallet-emptying personal experience that could've been avoided had I looked here first TT__TT)

Thanks. A much friendlier response than the moderator's.
The review page provides you with the clearest, most concise and extensive list...a list so long, no one here will ever be able to list them all. The reviews are there just for people with inquiries such as yours, so you can shop and buy with confidence.

I think you misunderstood Coldbloods responce.. He was just saying that there is a plethera of people to buy from, way to many to list by anyones standards.

Some like me are small cheese hobbyist breeders that tend to specialize in just a few species and produce maybe 15-20 sacs a year. Where as others are huge full or mostly full time breeders and importers that have hundreds of species to choose from.

Buying from each has it's pros and cons and you would benefit from shopping around..

Dennis ( Coldblood) is easily the most helpfull and probably the nicest guy on the forum. I'm not in his head but I'm pretty positive he wasn't trying to be rude or unfriendly in any way.

It really depends. I have had a lot of good luck with different websites to different breeders without websites. What I tend to do is research the species I want and the price around on different websites, etc. Then I look into the reviews of different places I am considering. One thing is that many websites are great, but they will have different prices for the same species and different sizes, etc. One thing to consider is looking at local pet stores. The prices may be a bit more expensive than what you find on the internet, but they tend to be cheaper when factoring in the price of shipping.

Yeah, I can see that being the case. At the time I was probably just being a bit self-conscious, being a nube and his response did seem on the curt side. He's since elaborated and I thanked him for his help. Dennis, if you reading this, no hard feelings man.
