Best setup for Texas Tan??

What's the best setup for my Texas Tan? Right now I have a 10 gal tank with 100% peat, a heat pad on the side, a red light heat lamp on top, the humidity is around 70%, and the temp is about 73-75 degrees. I have a piece of hollowed out bark in there for shelter. The T has burrowed underneath of it and baricaded himself in. In everyone's opinion what am I doing right or wrong? Please help! I'm a beginner and I just want what's best for the T.

How big is this spider ?? and all they need is a hide a water dish and dry substrate.... depending on its size of the spider the tank may be a little large...where are you located ?? usually heat mats and heat lamps are not required..room temps are generally fine...the heats lamps can dehydrate your spider...

Texas tan......hmmm I wonder what that is...Aphonopelma anax perhaps??
Why are all (most) of you using popnames,if everyone used the scientific names everything would be a bit easier?!
I keep my Aphonopelma anax with 10-15cm substrate because I've heard they like to burrow,but mine doesn't burrow at all,she is using the hideout I gave her. Humidity...hmmm I keep her fairly dry,and she seems to like it.
The most friendly and docile spider I've ever met She's my girl......... named her after my yongest daughters nickname:Fusse,what a nice lady,just waiting to get to mate her :worship:

I would say that the T is an adult. I don't have specific measurements or anything. I live in Iowa, so it's pretty cold right now. I keep the T in my basement because my wife won't let me keep it upstairs. It gets a little cooler in the basement over the winter. If i didn't use the heat lamp the temp in the tank would be around 68-70. I believe that's too cold, I may be mistaken. When you say you keep yours dry, how low do you keep the humidity?

And for Arachnoboy, thanks for the reply. I was using the popname because I'm a beginner and don't know all these scientific names. Gimme a break dude! I'll try and catch up on my scientific names next week.

I think 68 or 70 would work fine.
Mine are all kept at room temperature and are thriving.
I used to have a A.anax spiderling and she escaped out of the critter keeper...still miss her.
It is hard to keep up with all the scientific names, don't feel bad. I always have to look everything up when I read a lot of these posts <grin>
