My name is Jamie and I am new to arachnoboards. The only pics I have of my spider are on my iPhone! So, everyone that has seen her/he on their PC cannot tell because it is blurry!! My email is jbrust7@yahoo.com I am dying for some help here!! She was sold to me as a Rose hair...now that I am not so new, I can tell you she looks nothing like the ones I have seen! If anyone thinks they can help, plz e mail!! Especially if you have an iPhone so that my pics won't be blurry! The two specialists that I have asked said that she is no Rosie but the pics are blurry!! Can anyone help?? If I were more familiar with how to upload my pics from my phone onto the forum, I would!!
Thanks to anyone who will help!!!

I wouldn't recommend leaving your phone number up here, not good net safety, yaknow?

Why don't you go ahead and post what you have or just try to get some better pictures (or both). Often what you need to do with phone cameras is just hold it farther away. They usually have very crappy macro (up close) ability.

Edit: there is no need to bump your thread every 5 minutes, give people a few hours to read you post.

You should be able to use something like photobucket to upload photos to their site in your own directory. You should be able to upload the pics from your phone depending on your phone. You will need an account there though which is free. Once uploaded to that site just use the /img line copy and paste into your post here.

As for blurriness try not to get too close and use good background lighting when taking a picture. Blurriness in a photo most often occurs when there is to little light on an "auto" setting because the aperture has to remain open too long to gather enough light to "capture" the picture image. While the aperture is open any tiny vibration or movement causes the blur. So make sure the photo area or the whole room you are in is well lit. Not getting too close to the T will also help the camera gather more light.

The OP emailed me the photos and this is the T in question. I have no clue what it is.

Looks new world

Ok it looks from the pictures to be new world so my initial thoughts are some type of grammastola sp, Eupalaestrus sp, or Eulathlus sp. but its really hard to tell from the pics. Can you send any non-blurry pics?

That hourglass shape of the u-hair patch makes me think one of those newer Chilean imports, along the lines of what Singapore_Blue1 has mentioned.
Some only have variable, loosely applied common names at this point...

A little off-topic but get it off those wood chips and onto some coconut fiber. Looks like wood chips anyways.

Id is impossible atm, take your time and experiment taking pics using the best ones.

Thank You

So much for everyone's help! Yes, I have new substrate
coming in for it. Gonna fix it up today! It is definately
either the paraphysa or euathlus family! And knowing
that much helps! Now I need to try and get the sexing
of it...because skeleton man pointed out that these are
fairly new spiders to the hobby. It has a great attitude and
temperament....but I am still new to this...and understanding
now that it is probably full grown...or close...if it is male
I would hate for it to not get a chance to mate.

It is defiantly not a G. rosea.

It's hard to tell but in one of the pic's the spinnerets look orange, are they?

Any of you think it might be an Aphonopelma sp. Guatemala in need of a molt based on the color of the spinerettes? I'm pretty bad at visual ID. Diane

paraphysa scrofa.they basically look like a dwarf version of the rose hair. They also have the slightly elongated abdomen.
Hope this helps

I had also considered this, but the OP sent me more pictures and the orange you see is actually the hair around the spinnerets, and not the spinnerets themselves. They are black.

It doesn't look like P. scrofa to me, but maybe....

Looks like the pictures I've seen of Paraphysa scrofa. . .
that would be my GUESS as well since the photos don't offer many details.
But the mirror patch P. scrofa is fairly clear, and is far from conclusive but I'd bet $5 it was.

You have all been so great! I have some greater concern now for the spider!

I was telling one of my friends that it is not eating for me. I moved it upstairs where it stays even warmer. My avicularia avicularia eats like a horse compared to this spider! They are currenty about the same size. The spider has not eaten in about a month. It is drinking well. I have not noticed any pests. It is not pacing at night. And, of course it's abdomen is noticeabley getting smaller. It is drinking well and I have changed the bedding to a coconut/moss combo!! It chills in the corner now. So, I don't know if this would help anyone with the ID process but I am concerned for the spider. Could it be older and preparing for a molt since it could be one in one of the smaller families??

And I am so sorry it took me a while to get back on here! New user. If it does molt, I will definately get some pics up. But skeleton is correct and the spinnerets are black and it does have the orange hair around the them. Pictures can be so deceiving!!

i was considering some type of Euathlus spp. still being possible, but P. scrofa looks much more likely after looking at multiple pictures in the gallery under different lighting.
