begginer species

I was just wanderin cuz centipedes r so cool, What is the best begginer species? O yeah im also keeping a stone centipede and i need to know what it eats and its water requirements

I don't think there are any beginners species, but everyone is a beginner sometime. Try the smaller species and then get something bigger and nastier...

For Stone centipedes.... have fun TRYING to kill them. You don't need to worry about humidity, et. al. Just put them in a jar with some of the dirt near where you caught them, and drop in a few pinhead crix every now and then. I usually misted about once a week, but that was probably not even necessary. If you ever want to see them, give them a hid you can flip over, because if they have no hide, and you have deep enough substrate, they will burrow and you will rarely see them. Have fun!

You could probably start out with local centipedes. Eventually, when you feel comfortable, you could move on to the larger, more exotic types.

There are some exotic centipedes that don't reach quite the size of the giants. There are Alipes species, feathertails. There are also some Tanzanian species of Scolopendra that only reach maybe 6 inches, rather than, say, 12.

There are Florida pedes also. The Florida blue is a good beginner type pede!

Make sure your centipede gets water. Don't drown it, but don't thirst it either. Partially dampened substrate helps. It will gladly drink when drops of water are added. It will eat insects smaller than itself. Crickets and such.
