Beetle ID... anybody!

Ground beetles of some kind I think. I used to find body parts all the time when I was a kid. I don't see many live ones but found two yesterday.

aw they're nice lookin beetles. They remind me of the bess beetles around here.

They're bess beetles with daddy problems ;)

They are predatory and I've heard they don't take too kindly to being captured.

Nice one {D I used to give them random things when I was little to see if they'd break it. Of course they'd rip up things when I provoked them too much {D

yeah and the larger ones can give ya a good pinch:eek: i got some ssp.that are 1" alittle bigger,then i have one that's 2"(larger ssp.from fla.) that one will bite ya:p

I agree with Cheshire, definitely a Pasimachus... as for species... Pasimachus depressus... i think....

Yea did some googleing think it is a Pasimachus depressus. Very nice a bit like a british violet ground beetle.
