The web turret and cereal container opening is perfect. Whenever I toss a cricket down the turret, it's like I'm Scottie Pippen passing to Jordan. Swish!

The home edit containers are good but difficult to take pictures. The glare is pretty tough to deal with if your taking it from the side.

All 3 of mine made similar turrets. The pair that I have that are larger are usually hanging out up top. Actually pretty visible for a fossorial. The smaller 2in sling is always hiding though. I love the look of these guys

That has to be a trait that is similar for them because mine has to be one of the most visible fossorials I have. I want to make a larger glass haplotank so she has more room to spread out. I agree man! They are gorgeous T's

Yea it's annoying not sure why tarantula cribs or someone doesn't make better fossorial enclosures. Everything seems geared towards terrestrial and arboreal stuff. I wish I had the knowledge of working with the plastic or glass myself for enclosure builds.

I'm really curious about the container you used (what's a "web turret???" ) but I can't really see what the container itself looks like from the pics. Any chance you have more pics, possibly from when it was still empty?

A web turret (informal definition) is basically the burrow opening that your tarantula decorates with web or whatever you provide for the structure (leaves, moss, etc) some are very intricate and some look like a mess lol

The containers in the picture are the Home Edit cereal container and the oxo large cereal container. If you put "Haplotank for Beginners" in the search i wrote about them a bit. They're great for juvie to adult stage. You can push it to adult but I felt bad so I moved my lividus. They've been around for awhile. I love mine but I need to make a larger one from scratch apparently lol

Seriously Mike. Im working on something man. What i have in mind is basically a giant birdfeeder that can be converted between arboreal and fossorial, but made of glass or polycarbonate. So a large haplotank that can be used for large pokies and other large fossorials. Because the solutions im seeing all suck to be fair. And acrylic is garbage for that application

Haplotanks for beginners

I wanted to create some haplotanks and try them out. I thought the idea was very interesting, so around black friday I picked up some cereal containers and got drilling. The plastic material in all containers is thick, so you would be better off using a dremel or drill. You could get away with...

I was at the petstore the other day and saw some of the cheap glass tanks. There's probably a way to delaminate (i think thats the right word) the adhesive. Then take the 2 pieces and line them up. All you'd need is 2 pieces for the top and bottom and seal the pieces with glue. You could get creative with screens, and you could make a slide close system for the top. Just popcorning it but it doesn't seem like it would be too difficult with the right tools
