Botar,
I'm keeping them the same way you are.
I mist the substrate as I feed as well.
As far as molting, at this size, I am thinking within the next week or so, should see them doing it.
Joy's babies are about 2 weeks older than mine, and hers just molted into 3rd instar

immortal_sin....yeah they sure can burrow good in that stuff...and yeah i noticed it does dry out quicker....yesterday after i took the paper towels out, the lids were fogged up pretty good the rest of the day...got up this morning and i could tell they were drying out (no fog and the peat was gettin all fluffy)...so i wetted down the moss again and cleaned out all cricket parts (looks like all of them ate except 3 and one of the 3 i could tell had nibbled some).....i only had one of them make a run for it on my hand...but once it hit the hair on my arm it didnt get much further!!! ....i guess i need to put 'em in the babyfood jars soon....i looked at them (the babyfood jars) this morning and could tell the vermiculite was still plenty moist....i guess the verm holds moisture better than the peat....

also..on another note....one of the slings that didnt eat at all just happens to be the smallest one i got....hopefully the "runt" will do ok in the future....i'll try feeding them all again tomorrow......maybe the runt will eat this time....maybe it has just been concentrating on its burrow....
oh and maybe i just made up a name for one of the slings.....Runt!!!:D  ;)

I noticed that when any of my versicolor lings do a runner they stop right where the hair starts on my arm also......must be like running through a forest of bushes for them? lol

well....now 4 of the 10 have finished eating their second meal.......and i can see 4 of the 5 burrowers beginning to come out of their burrows.....hope they ALL decide to eat this time......some of the little buggers are gettin fat!!!!!
the slings are kinda more fun than my adult male G. rosea.........i guess there's more to do so it makes it a little more interesting...

dang it!!.....i think tomorrow they are definitely going into the babyfood jars with vermiculite.....the ones that are staying on the surface are eating great and are fat little pigs.......the ones that are playing hide-and-seek in their burrows are eating VERY little if anything at all (hard to tell if they nibbled on the cricket parts or not...the ones that are definitely eating are totally devouring the food leaving no doubt as to wether or not they are eating)......maybe they will spend more time on the surface if it isnt as easy to burrow.....and then maybe if the food is right in their face they will take the time to EAT!!!!!......i want them to grow.....but i dont wanna feel guilty of trying to make them do something they dont wanna do....
any opinions??

re

for my slings i use these clear containers that crickets come in , there about 6 inches high 4 inches wide, have ventalation holes on 2 sides , and plenty of them, the top snaps on and has a circle which i just turn till it reachs the opening, so i can just drop food in without disturbing the t, works pretty good , they also hold in the moisture---Jeff

my main concern is burrowing......the ones that burrow seem to be concentrating more on hiding than eating.........

Spider homes

I went to the dollar store to see if I could find something good for my jumping spiders and other small guys. They had this plastic case that looked like those lunch boxes with a roundish top. They had some little girl toy inside. It had a handle and a good locking top. The plastic was very clear like glass. It is about 3.5 wide, 2" deep and 3" high. Perfect find for one buck. They probably would have sold for three at a pet store.
