Our hen hatched out six baby chicks yesterday. She had them out this afternoon and I got some pictures.

I am surprised my dog didn't get her nose pecked off.

AWWW!!!!

Aww that is so cute!!! Chicks are the best. I love how your hen is all fluffed up over them! She loves them!
We have 6 hens..but alas, no rooster so no cute fuzzies for us.

Congrats! They are darling.

Too cute! Chicks are so dang adorable with their little selves! We always had crazy Silkie hens who worried themselves silly over the chicks, and the chicks were little daredevils! Pretty brood ya got there :)

Well dad said we are down to five. He said they were too close to the horses and one might have gotten stepped on. At least I know our dogs didn't do it. They know better.

I don't really know what they are. I think the hen and the sire of the brown babies and maybe the black one are Belgian d uccles(though the rooster lacks the beard), and the other rooster who sired the yellow ones and likely the white chick is a White Rock. They were a bunch of misc chickens I got at the feed store this spring. If given the choice I usually take Polish and Cochins.

We have an australorpe hen who was sitting on an infertile nest when we introduced the current mini-flock. She is now a part of the group and sleeps with them on the porch. She has not gone to a nest since, though she likely will this spring. I just love chickens. They are just so much fun to watch.

False alarm. We still have all six. One must have been hiding. They are so cute doing their little chicken stuff. That mama is taking great care of them.
