Some nice collections represented here. I just have two OBT's as I lost about a dozen assorted baboons during my Feb 2008 move disaster.

The good news is that I have four H. maculatus slings shipping to me today, so the rebuilding continues.

Any recommendations for my third Baboon species? Looking for something fiesty and at least somewhat visible....

2 unsexed OBTs. had them since they were about the size of a pencil eraser, now they are about 2.5". Very calm, they'll run to their burrows when disturbed. Never a threat display.

One Hysterocrates gigas. She is such an industrious tarantula and always up to some kind of remodeling.

I own 1 Female 1.5"-2" C.Crawshayi
2// 3/4"-1" S.Calceatum Slings
4// 1/2"-1" P.Murinus Slings
1// 1/2" H.Maculata Sling

I couldn't pick a favorite if I had to. xD Although one of the most interesting ones is my C.Crawshayi, I bought her expecting a burrower, but instead she started a few spots, and now sits in the open and dares me to open the enclosure, and I love seeing the webbing from my P.Murinus, and the S.Calceatum are lightening fast, with also makes it a bit more interesting. One bad thing I have to say is, I have seen my H.Maculata sling 3 times I believe in the almost month I have owned him, I thought they were supposed to be aboreal:? :? but s/he enjoys the burrow more.

LOL yeah, they do that. I had an H. mac that was a burrower until 3". After that, she constructed web burrows in the cork bark and she would come out at night and run around. It would have to be dark for at least an hour before she would come out. Nervous little spider but beautiful :)

Baboons

I have an OBT and KB. The OBT is quite skittish, and instead of the threat display, she will dash off to her burrow; only comes out at nite. KB is 3/4 grown, and I never see her, she's always in her burrow. Next Baboon I get will probably be the H Mac, and maybe a horned Baboon as well.

Hmm baboons, eh

We've got (I'm including our order that we're getting on the 22):

0.0.1 Ceratogyrus darlingi
0.1.0 Citharischius crawshayi
0.1.0 Eucratoscelus pachypus (MF)
0.0.1 Harpactirella lightfooti
0.1.0 Heteroscodra maculata
0.0.1 Hysterocrates sp. gigas
1.0.2 Pterinochilus murinus
0.0.1 Stromatopelma calceatum

Also, we've got a 0.0.1 Heterothele gabonensis, I'm pretty sure they're baboons (their common name is Gabon Baboon) but I'll separate it just in case I'm wrong.

Out of all of these, so far my fave is our C. darlingi (don't have the Hysterocrates yet so it might change) and I don't really have a least favourite...but if I had to pick I'm just going to say the crawshayi ONLY because I've only seen her twice since we got her in July, when we got her and when we rehoused her. Crazy lady.

4 P. murinus
2 H. maculata
1 S. calceatum

All 1/2" slings at the moment so I dont know their sex. All are also very shy at the moment. During feeding, the S. cal is most agressive while my H. macs are super shy. The OBT's are half half : P

Not sure which I like best but it would prob have to go to the s cal since it never turns down a meal whereas the H. macs will take a day or two before the prey disappears.

I have a small african cohort, but still think they're awesome!

I have two 3 inch P murinus RCFs and an H mac 4 instar (got her as a teeny weeny first instar).

Oddly enough, my H mac sling a heavier webber than my two OBTs :)

My little one is now a little over an inch, and took about 3 and bit months to get to that size. I must point out that living in the UK my average temps aren't nearly as warm as others so the growth rate is a little slower.
