Mine always kicks hairs at me every time I open the cage, isn’t this species supposed to be extremely docile? Does anyone else’s B.homarii do this same thing, and is this normal?

Nope. At the risk of sounding condescending, no particular species is 'supposed' to have any single attitude. My juvie B. hamorii (note the correct spelling, by the way) acts the exact same way. Meanwhile, my G. porteri is easily in my top five most defensive specimens. Individual spiders have individual temperaments.

Also note that many tarantulas seem to calm way down once they reach adulthood. It's almost like a switch goes off saying "Oh yeah, I'm a giant spider."

I had a b smithi a long time ago that could have been a hamorii that kicked hairs all the time.

My B. smithi is the only one that I've gotten a threat pose from and he was like 1/2" LOL. I was truly terrified. It would do it anytime I tried to give him water or food. It's been a while. I miss my baby threat poses.

Okay that makes total sense then, he/she is only an inch.... hopefully when it reaches adulthood it’ll calm down, thank you everyone!

Absolutely NOT.

You're in luck today, welcome to the game show "I didn't do thorough enough research when buying an exotic animal."

Where Behind doors 1 2 and 3 you find, Johnny tell him "A flicky tarantula" from birth and likely to death.

Good luck

Basically, the temperaments listed for various species are generalisations, a lot of them aren't really accurate and you will get many specimens which that vastly differ from the general temperament for the species. Throw in the fact that a tarantula's disposition can change at any time (even from moult to moult) and it's basically tarantula roulette, the hamorii female I posted above was my most "docile" tarantula up until after her 2nd moult with me, ever since then she's given Ornithoctoninae a run for their money in terms of defensiveness.

With Brachys, it's basically a case of flip a coin to see if you get a hair kicker or not anyway, I have every species from the genus and the only one that kicks hairs is my smithi (ex annitha) male, people say boehmei are the worst hair kickers in the genus and my female has never kicked hairs at me.
