Never been so scared in my life to see a male dubia climbing up my curtains at 2am :S managed to catch him but so paranoid now about how it got out.

Earlier today before this happened I opened the dubia bin because all the males were running round going crazy. Why is this? They were so loud bumping into stuff tonight it kept me awake. It was pretty hot and muggy tonight plus with their heat mat must have been about 27-30 degrees on one side of their bin.

Are the males aggressive towards eachother? Could one have flown out while I had the bin open?

My parents don't know about the colony so if one escaped I'd be busted.

Dubai roaches can't fly I don't think. And they are non evasive so if one got out you don't have to worry about it infesting your house. The males can glide though.

Phew! That's mainly what I was worried about. This one flew up onto my curtains, thought it was a huge moth at first, so I think they can propell themselves with their wings but not categorically fly.

I'll find them out from time to time. They are almost always on their back, not dead, just upside down.

Edit**
Also when I notice them all running around and doing their dance. I'm thinking they are wanting to make some baby dubia :p

The hot weather makes them excited and usually is when they go into a breeding frenzy
