Avicularia Versicolor white patches on abdomen

When my versicolor molted about a month or two ago I noticed 2 white patches of hair on either side of its abdomen. I've searched numerous times here on arachnoboards and the internet in general and i have not found anything remotely close. I've looked up color variations, too, no luck. Has anyone else ever seen this before? Is it normal? The tarantula is eating great, active, doing what it's always done so I'm not too concerned, just rather curious and slightly confused!

Sometimes they come out with strange coloration post molt, not super common but something that happens every now and again.

There seems to be some carapace markings or scratches as well, definitely abnormal looking. No need to worry if shes active and eating though. It will repair itself on the next molt.

What a gorgeous creature! If she were a ball python and that color change turned out to be permanent, and if she could pass it on to her young, you'd have yourself a $10,000 snake!

Please keep us up-to-date after her next molt to let us know if that variation is permanent. Honestly, I think it's lovely. Wouldn't that be awesome if it were permanent? Seriously, I'm really interested.

Almost looks like the setae on the sides of the abdomen was rubbed off. They can shed urticating hairs...looking again might just be that lol.

At first I wondered about that too, but it looks to me like blonde hair. So curious!

There are definitely still hairs there! They are just white and almost blonde, so odd. It will probably be a while till I get another molt from this one but I'm definitely curious and I will post a picture after the next molt. As long as no-one really thinks this is too concerning I'm happy.

Are the little spots on her carapace red hairs or bald patches?

Just a thought, but maybe it's not an C. versicolor, or possibly a hybrid. There's other Avics that can look similar that have such markings. I've seen pictures of A. urticans/juruensis with white spots like that.

They're not exactly the same, a little more purple. I'm not a huge fan of Avics, so I don't know many species. Maybe there's one that's even more similar.

Or maybe it's just a strange C. versicolor.

Passed this thread up because I thought someone was asking what book lungs are again..

Very cool, thanks for sharing. Would definitely be interested in what happens next molt. But I doubt it will stay.
