@Storm, You won't be disappointed with them, I got a couple of all-acrylic enclosures last year from House Of Spiders, and they work so well, even for high humidity setups... I hydrate my veri's enclosure, and 5 days later, still get a reading of 75% humidity! Good for display enclosures too! Best of all, most companies that make them specifically for spiders, will customise them to suit your needs... I need to buy some more!

If you customize the cage, I'm sure it works fine. I was talking about the "factory condition" though :)
I was throwing the option out there, if you are that worried about it. I haven't customized any of mine and have even had upside down pairings on the mesh without issues.

The cages you ordered are very nice and are great pick-ups but they still use mesh vents. ;)

As far as every one saying not to house these spiders togethor does any one here have "PERSONAL" experiance with trying to house multiple pink toes togethor? The more I look into it on the internet there is more text out there that states that they can be kept togethor with little to no cannibalism. Befor I get more nagitive feed back I am fully aware that not every thing you read on the internet is true and the same goes for posts on these forums. The world is filled with miss leading information. I am also aware that T's are opportunistic feeders and that they may eat each other.

Can any one give me some links to people trying to house these spiders communaly? Does any one have strong proof they this will never work and that I will be left with just 1 T in the future?
Where are you getting information supporting that Avicularia are communal? The only "successful" Avicularia "communals" that I've heard of (specific information including all the important details such as: age of tarantulas, length of time in communal, relatedness, size of enclosure, etc) were essentially just very large enclosures (as I believe someone already stated) in which there was no interactive behavior. Rather, the enclosure was large enough for each individual to maintain its own territory such that disputes were rare. That, in my opinion, is not a communal. It's finding the minimal volume necessary to keep cannibalism low, which I feel is an incredibly stressful environment for the tarantulas.

You asked for everyone's opinion, and based on lots of second-hand evidence (some of us have been on this forum for a long time and know how to use the search function) we think your probability of success is incredibly low. My advice would be to start with a species that is ACTUALLY communal. However, it appears as though you asked for everyone's opinion so you could just disagree with it. In which case, enjoy your tarantula.

In google search engine if you type in Avicularia metallica Metallic Pink Toe all the sites that are listed state that they are some what communal with little to no cannibalism. I have searched these forums and have been reading them for months now. I still cannot find enough information on a communal set up with pink toes. I am not trying to be ignorant and disagree with every thing every one has to tell me I am just trying to find the facts and solid evidence that these T's cannot be kept togethor. I am still planning to keep them togethor in the best enviorment and settings as possible and see what happens.

Been there, done that, and wish I had the spiders back. That good enough??it's your money and spiders, and you keep questioning us.Not trying to come off like a jerk, but this is just another case of asking a question, getting a ton of feedback, and then not believing any of what is being told.Who knows, maybe you will get lucky for a while, but one day in the future there will be one or two fat Avic's.Those are facts AND evidence...That said, when we hatch these out we normally keep them in groups of 50 in 32 oz deli's for up to 3 weeks with no cannibalization. After that it seems to be open game on eating their siblings. So if you get fresh 2i and house them all together odds are you will be fine until they all get hungry and start feeding.

I think the key is that, as you have already agreed with other people on, there is a lot of bad information online, mostly written by people who don't know any better and are only going on what they have heard before, whether it is accurate or not. I have also read that avics are communal, but, though I have never personally tried, I have never read a first hand account from anybody who did attempt it where the outcome was positive, with the exception of a few giant enclosures where the avics never came in contact with each other.

No, no one has ever done this, you'll be the first.

How about you show us where those sites have proof that they can work? I mean, we've (actual T owners who you can look back and see how experienced we are) all answered your question. Do a search if you want proof, and I mean a search on here, not google. Tell me, were you able to talk directly to those who wrote that on those other pages? Do you know them? Can you see how much experience they have? I didn't think so.

Don't ask for personal experience from us, when all you're going to do is shoot it down with information from other sites which have zero proof and provide no personal experience. How about you provide some links to these sites?

Show us the "proof" that it can work.

I love threads like this!

OP: "Hey guys, is it OK for me to put my tarantula in with my snapping turtle? I googled it and found sites that said it would be ok. Is it ok?"

Everyone else: "No, that's not ok. That's a terrible idea. Don't do it, or your spider will die. Bad idea. Don't do it. Etc, etc, etc."

OP: "Well I want to do it so I'm going to do it anyway, regardless of what you all say."

Makes me facepalm and laugh at the same time.

To everyone reading this thread: I think the OP is borderline trolling, so just be wary of that. Everything that needs to be said has been said, so there's really no point (in my opinion) in continuing this discussion with the OP.

Well-said.
