What’s in a name?
The Goliath Pink Toe has long been known in the tarantula keeping hobby as Avicularia braunshauseni, although they have been reclassified as Avicularia avicularia Morphotype 2.
It may be one of the hardest of the Pink Toe names to pronounce, but there is no doubt that they are one of the prettiest!!😍
As you can see here, these Brazilian beauties sport a metallic teal carapace and metallic blue legs with long frizzy, “hairs” (setae) all along them. These legs are tipped with pink tips to their “toes” (tarsi).
They have dark black abdomens with crimson red racing stripes on either side.
All together, this is one breathtaking tarantula to behold in person. Not the least because females can attain a whopping eight inch leg span!!
The name may be hard to say, but you learn it pretty quick when you are the proud owner of one!

Do you have any images, or peer-reviewed literature to support this claim??
You know it doesn't exist because Avicularia is a mess lol.

@Joshs Frogs, the 8" DLS of Avicularia avicularia M2 is likely just old marketing jargon that is trying to masquerade as a fact. I acquired my female as a 2i sling in March of 2021 from a breeder who purchased their adults as A. braunshauseni pre-revision. I also acquired my big female A. variegata as a 2i sling in May of 2021. The A. variegata female has about an inch of legspan on the AA M2 female and the gap widens every molt.

Not even fully stretched out, but this is the giant variegata floof in relation to my hand. Last molt put her over 7" DLS and she's premolt now.

Have to ask, maybe someone has a pic.

I saw an Avic in the wild recently, I would not be surprised if it was 7.5" DLS. Unfortunately I could not put my hand as close to it as you did above due to its location and other animals around it. I'll have to post the image at some point. It was very large.

I had a A. geroldi many years ago, she was over 6". Massive like a Brachy a bit.

Need a fresh molt shot of her above w/a ruler.

I plan on it as I'm questioning her myself. I thought I had her measured when she was stretched well at just under 7" DLS late last year, but I thought I saw a hair over 7" during a more recent attempt for a measurement. She's hard to get a measure on. Not because she's skittish, much more the opposite. I only get chances when she's stretched on the front and she's extremely reactive to any airflow coming in from the vents, mostly trying to eat whatever she sensed moving.

Same with all Avics- a full stretch is rare
