Is that a P. Metallica "Black" Form? If so, beautiful spider!
No such thing imo.
However, this female has always been a darker phase since she was a juvenile. So I can't pin point why she's darker, but it is not old age.

Typically, the dark ones you see are older females and their colors have faded.

Look up P. Metallica Black Morph on some of the UK boards. Only seen it overseas, but it's generally a P. Metallica that even when young has very dark colours, but has very bright yellow on the joints.

Maybe she was from there then.
Either way, she decided to drop her sac last night :)

Congrats on the metallica sac Austin! And good luck with the H. pulchripes breeding. Keep us updated on the two girls. :)

Poecilotheria metallica sac was a bust :( First bad sac out of 19 successful mating's so far... and it had to be that one, lol.
My thinking is that while she was rotating the sac, she slipped and fell on it, squishing a number of eggs. Or, that while rotating, her fangs snagged the sac several times, rupturing the eggs (but there were no holes in the sac), so I think her fat self squished the sac :(

What I thought I could save :(

0.1 Harpactura pulchripes new digs. She will remain here for the duration of being gravid. Fingers crossed on a sac!

Introduced this hefty 9" male (from Brian Kim) last night :)

Sorry to hear it got mashed. At least some of the eggs may be salvaged.

She's smashed the sac just like 'Earthquake' smashed Jake the Snake Roberts snake on that vintage WWF match :-/

Thanks guys. No eggs were able to be saved. All turned to mold.
I'll get it next time, I have faith.
