I have a newly emerged female atlas moth who has started to lay/produce what I assume are eggs.
Are these species capable of parthenogenesis as all my cocoons are female and I was hoping to breed 😓

thanks!

They will lay phantom eggs, when I was breeding and rearing saturniidae some species were more likely to lay eggs immediately within a few days of hatching without mating first. They will not hatch though. Some will profusely do this, female atlas and Luna moths do this I feel like more than others

Yup silk moths reproduce sexually, and only have a week or so to do so after emerging before starving and dying. Had two Polyphemus fems emerged and laid within two days before dying. Phantom eggs that won’t hatch :/
