at last, i found a great burrowing sand-bentonite ratio!
1 part fine gravel
1 part bentonite (alluminium silicate)
12-15 parts play or aquarium grade sand.
This mixture was in a scorp book and i decided to test it out. It has been 2 days since the new mixture has been put in with my scorp and it has already started a tunnel which is holding up well, it is the first time i have seen my scorp use his chelicerae to brake up the substrate.
(the mixture must be added to the enclosure and mixed, then wetted down and compacted)( substrate must completely dry out before introducing inhabitants)(this mixture is for desert species and does not hold moisture well.)
