Thought I'd start a thread to record Verendo, my Theraphosinae sp. "Blue" 's growth. I got her as a 1.5" confirmed female on June 27, 2022.

This thread will be updated whenever she molts (or maybe when I notice something fun).

Below is a pic taken on the day she was unboxed. You can already see the slight blue coloration on her:

Verendo molted last night. I do believe she gained some size but it is not that noticeable - hopefully I can keep track of this in more detail in the future.

Temperament: As slings, she is pretty skittish. She pushed the substrate from around the enclosure and stick them to the middle with webbing, making a tunnel around the "mountain". For moisture, I only moisten one side of the enclosure when feeding, and, interestingly enough, (from the one month of observation) she seems to prefer the dryer side.

Feeding: I am feeding her with small pre-killed mealworms and dubias so far, but I will try feeding it live once it hardens.

Nice spider. In terms of appearance, reminds me of Bumba horrida. Looking forward to seeing its adult coloration.

Finally! A molt from the little girl!!
Biggest change - she is now BLUE!!! (well...a little blue at least)
Size gain isn't that noticable TBH, I would say she gained about 1-2mm.
A total of around 160 days between the two molts. Isn't too bad, but wouldn't say she's a fast growing species as well.

Hi,

Beautiful!

curious: could you already say that's a male or a female?

Is it docile or skittish at this point?

Thank you
