Are common house centipedes (S. Coleoptrata) able to climb bed frame legs?

They can not climb "smooth " surfaces but most modern metal bed frames are painted (black most commonly) so does this mean scutigera can crawl up a bed frame like this? Does the paint make the surface rough enough for scutigera to climb into my bed? 😓

Yep. They can still climb into your bed. They love to bite toes for some reason, so just wear socks or shoes to bed. The second most common place they like to go is your ears. So I would wear earplugs. Wear pajama bottoms too and tape off the ankles. This will prevent them from getting to any private parts as a precaution. They are viscous lil things aren’t they?

Your bed sheets/skirt might also touch the floor, depending on the situation. Bypassing the bed frame altogether.

I tried to help. You wanna know how I got these scars?
No I want to know why you are so bored that you would resort to trolling someone who is asking for help in order to entertain yourself.

If you can't help then whatever, nobody owes me anything. But to make jokes while someone os asking for help is next level.

Stop being so sensitive. And yes they can climb that metal. It was also mentioned that your bedsheets can cause a bridge that bypasses the frame all together. Your question got answered.

If you're really concerned about it, here are some suggestions:

1. make sure that none of your bedding touches the wall or the floor.
2. cut the tops and bottoms off some smooth plastic bottles and slide those over the legs of the bed to provide a barrier that they will not be able to climb so readily.
3. try to learn more about these fascinating animals to help reduce your fear :)
