This can prove to be quite confusing and contradictory to a person that has no interests in tarantulas but reads the article out of caution. I Love the modern journalism.

If a red rump is famous for its bite than aphonopelma hentzi is well known for being one of the fastest growing ts out there...

I just saw the vagans show up on a list of the hobbys most dangerous Tarantulas.. The guy was saying for a new world the venom is potent and they have nasty dispositions etc all contributing to them being one to watch out for.. Umm ....

I always loved those titiles "Most Dangerous Tarantulas"- I think that hits the nail on the head from the very title..... yes they are oh so dangerous veracious killers out on a blood mission like the world just loves getting attention. Ive never met a "dangerous" T in my collection. Theyre all ones that need to be respected.

Again and again and again and again. The most.... the worst... the deadliest... Why are homos, theoretically sapien, so infatuated with this sensationalist crap? But this thread bears a nice note of irony as the deadliest animal foe of all arachs, hymenoptera. are also the #1 of animal caused human deaths - while the venom is generally considered quite a way farther down the LD50 scale. Bizarre.

Yes exactly but we don’t go demonizing and sensationalizing Hymenoptera the same way we do arachnids!? Mean while tarantulas get picked up for that role far more often despite all the data to prove it!!

and on the note from the other thread about arachnophobia and behavioral/evolutionary conditioning you’d think bee’s based of the data would elicit a much stronger fear response.... but I have met far less people with adversions to bees than the mass of people to arachnids.

Conditioned responses. Incidentally, I suggested she compare hairy legged spiders, esp. theraphosidae to clean legged theridiidae responses but she is presently in data overload. Several hundred pages of notes to correlate. Would be interesting though.

It was the guy from the Tarantula collective on YouTube.. I think it was titled most dangerous tarantulas.. I will say this his channel isn't trash,that one video though. Lol
