Hi

My juvenille Aphonopelma bicoloratum

i really like that first image. has anyone else noticed how this species looks so similar to Brachypelma in coloration compared to other aphonos? their natural location isn't too far apart either. not really trying ot say anything like there needs to be revision...just Brachypelma popped into my head while looking at it.

Hi

Tihs species havent got revision. In all articles it has been in genus Aphonopelma. The arachnologist have lot different signs which differentiate two genuses and similar spicies in other genuses.

i have alrways read this is a high humidity species, but my large adults all molt fine with a dry cage and water available about half the time.

now, granted, i have my window open and fans going 24/7/365 in Southern CA and it might be a different story in a closed room with central heat...

but given the option between keeping a cage more moist and less moist, especially since i have a fair amount of tarantulas... as long as both seem equally healthful for the spider, i would choose drier

I Love how in these pictures, it shows the exact opositeness of human vs spider; young vs old, segmented bodies vs non-segmented. and Massive vs Tiny. but at the same time conveys a gentle Trusting relationship.

BTW: Fine art HIGH quality prints can be made... quality of images was dropped for use on Arachnoboards.
Print under 9x13 for VERY high quality or up to 13x20"
custome sizes and ratios are offered.
just ask me and I'll send a quote.
all Proof prints on me.

I have more art at gwegowee.deviantart.com

Those are awesome shots!! The T in the hair makes it look like it is on some sort of huge creature.
