That’s crazy if a house is a few million there talking about a economic collapse soon due to hyperinflation. Rough situation in Germany ?lottery is to take the money from many and give them to the few , same odds of winning then being killed by a yeti. Almost non existent chance of winning .
Germany is probably close to militarization like USA soon. There richest nation in Europe.

I have no idea what you are talking about, but no one can easy afford a house here. Most of them just earn so much that they have a roof over their heads. And in the unfair conditions here in Germany, I can't hear it anymore when we are called "rich". These are at most the corporations, not the consumers. Prosperity is kept down here by unfair means, if you have any at all. But that's not the point here.
And if a house, then I would have one built to my liking away from a city. And yes, that costs already a few million. ;)

I'm in a similar position looking for a house to rent in the UK. pretty much all rental places say no pets but i'v been going with asking if a few fish tanks will be which they all say should be fine. I don't like to be dishonest but i feel that what's in the tank is irrelevant and saying "massive exotic tarantulas" might just attract unwanted attention. If they came for an inspection i'd just explain how they are all contained and mess free.

i have no personal experience, bit in another thread it was suggested to just ask "caged pets were allowed and not ask about any specific species.

Wow sounds like what a big city In USA like New York, at current job losses from automation and robotics . Unless government starts giving lots of freee money to citizens going to be tons of homeless in the future millions in each city worldwide.! Like terminator only robots took the jobs.
The rich in USA fight to kill jobs so they make more money, and more and more homeless. Washington DC is a mess I heard, and San Francisco.

Maybe build a shelf that hides the T , or a front cover for when landlords arrived you can press a button and hide it lol secret T bookcase.

I've recently had the same trouble. I was also looking for an apartment in Germany. I've read a lot about tenancy law. You can keep mouses, gerbils, and turtles in Germany, even if your landlord forbids you from doing so. The problem with tarantulas is that they fall under the category of "ekelerregend" or gross pets, like rats or snakes and therefore, you indeed need special permission from your landlord to keep them.

And yes, the renting situation in most cities is bad enough, that admitting you keep tarantulas upfront will make it almost impossible to get an apartment. I've considered just not saying anything, but if your landlord spots the tarantulas, he can order you to get rid of them. He can not outright kick you out of the apartment once you are in there, if you got rid of the ts, but he may be able to bullshit his way to a termination of rent because he needs the flat for his own usage or something.

I thought I would just hide them behind a curtain or in a cupboard, or even better when they are at a spot not visible through the windows, as the landlord can generally only enter your apartment if he announced the visit, which gives you time to hide the ts. The exception is if your apartment is on fire, or there is water coming from behind your door. Emergency stuff.

However, that situation never came to be because my mom bought the apartment I will now be renting. I got a hard no from her on ts, but I'm trying to educate her about them and maybe I can bring her around. If I manage to get one it will be same as with my tattoos, at one point she will just ask exasperatedly "another one?" and it's already too late^^

I just don't understand how this rule can go through. Disgust is relative. I can disgust myself before a hamster or a cat. I could go there too and say I feel massively disturbed by children and nobody is allowed to move in with children. But you have to tolerate them. This logic!
Laws must not regulate where people are favored or disadvantaged by individual views.
But here we are no longer surprised. That's the unfair, illogical Germany with politicians at the top who can just distinguish colors and numbers.

I read that for no logical and good reason nobody can force you to give away your animals. As I said: otherwise I could also say "Get rid of your children." This is a massive intervention in the free development.

And I get mentally ill without pets. Since I can go to the psychologist and certify that no one is allowed to take away my animals. :smug:

It would be so cool to find a landlord who is totally relaxed and doesn't mind or simply says "I can not help it anyway." Also already read.

I'm not from Germany (though I am in Europe, too) but I'd guess your best bet might indeed be just to find an apartment that allows pets in general, no matter how hard that seems to be - that way you don't need to explain or lie. I mean, tarantulas are pets too, so...

I have a dog and if I had to move again that's what I would need to do. No need to explain that I also have a rabbit, a snake, and few spiders... not to mention I'm planning to get a parrot at some point. If you list your whole zoo it's easy to drop you on the bottom of the list and just rent the place to someone else... but if you get the apartment and turn out to be reliable it doesn't matter you have the pets, especially if they are quiet and don't cause any issues.
That might be better option anyway, if you really are hoping to eventually get a cat too. Might save you from moving unnecessarily later on, if you happen to find a nice, affordable place.

I just phoned for the next apartment. The housing association sounds good, there are pets allowed, even small pets. I asked about terraristics, aquarium in general. Wouldn't be a problem, he said. But about toxic animals I have to ask the landlady if it's okay.
I just told him that I'm interested in all the animals, but I haven't decided yet, except with the cats. I'm thinking of telling that I had tarantulas before who unfortunately have died and can guarantee that nothing will happen there. That I keep them species-appropriate and that they are not a danger to anyone.
