My C. darlingi had molted last night. In the morning I took a picture of him, and went out to school. About 12 hours later I come back and I see this whitish liquid at the base of his leg and its kinda scattered throughout the enclosure. I have no idea how this even happened, is there anything I can do for him?

I hope this isn't the end this is the first T that has reached maturity in my care, and it being a male I wanted to send him off to a local breeder.

If the injury is to the leg itself, he will self-amputate and will be just fine with 7 legs.

If it's actually on his body, some carefully applied cornstarch can help to stop the loss of hemolymph -- just don't get it on his book lungs...I haven't had to do this but there are a bunch of posts about it if you search the forum.

Make sure he has fresh water available at all times so he can rehydrate as needed!

I agree with ladyratri, cornstarch apparently works very well for wounds, and keep him hydrated! I really hope your T is okay! 🤞

I had a g pulchripes molt with a gimp leg. It what very small, so if there was any leaking, i never saw it. It molted again in less then a month. The new leg looked brand new. I can’t even tell which one it is anymore.

Some others have noticed the leg looks different when they have this happen. I guess it depends on tarantula and leg injury.

Since your tarantula is much older then mine was, i don’t know how long it will take to regenerate in a new molt.

But one less leg is not something that will stop it from living.

I offered prekilled because it was more reclusive.

Whenever you start feeding again, if you see your tarantula is a bit more shy then usual, you can try that until its gets used to have on less leg.

Best Wishes,
yeah sure, leg is still there and fully functional. He’s literally running back and forth looking for a mate. I’m sending off to my local T breeders later this week.
