Haplopelma Lividum aka cobalt blue. its got blue legs, very docile, friendly, and can be trained to do tricks. :)

A.geniculata is a close match to your requirements, though growth speed isnt exactly slow.

get an H lividum if you want to never see it in the light, or at all.

what do you view as 'large in size'. 6" or 10"?

I ask because the larger Ts generally tend to be the faster growers to get to that size :D

:? H. lividum? Docile, friendly and does tricks?

I must have gotten a defective one because all my girl would rather do is kill me in my sleep. If this is a facetious reply then {D and if not then :wall:

H. lividum are not what I would consider `beginner` by any stretch of the imagination.

[Edit] Just noticed the OP's request for `Agressive`. By this reasoning then H. lividum is a clear choice but based on the OP's posts, 1 post, I hope they are asking for beginner T's and not just adding to an existing collection.

Joking? Im sorry, but clearly the newspaper-fetching, chess-playing H.Lividum is not the tarantula for you. :p

yeah, H.Lividum is REALLY not for a beginner. Not only are they extremely aggressive, but if a beginner were to get it as their first T, theyd have it and think "whats the big deal of owning a tarantula, it just disappears"

Hehe.. yea this is why, unlike some, I went both routes..

At first I was like  then I read into the wording and then was  but lastly had to ask {D

the only think I can think of is A C. crawshayi that completely fits that description, they're big, mean, and take forever to mature. Though I do not own one, I've heard that like the H. lividum, they're a pet hole but I'll let someone who has kept them to confirm or deny that.

But with this species and the H. lividum since they're old worlds if you get bitten you're in for a world of hurt. Check out the bite reports to see what i mean.

No offense, I mean I can see the appeal of a large aggressive tarantula, (I'm partial to african species myself, though I have mixed feelings about C. crawshayi) it almost seems like, since I'm assuming this will be your first, that you want the biggest, baddest, tarantula on the block, something to show off, I whole-heartedly appologize if im wrong, but maybe you should get your self a nice new world and work your way up to the old world Ts.

If you do your research you might not have a problem, these are just my feelings on the subject.

I know you wanted a slow grower but I'm seeing some good suggestions, A. genics and N. chormatus both get to a good size and I've heard can be on the defensive side, plus they're both new world Ts so you're not in for the pain you would be in with an old world if you got bit.

No tarantula is "aggressive" .... defensive is more the correct term ... I mean how would you react if some "alien" huge life form came into your domain/house and started poking n prodding around? You would pretty much tell it "where to go" right? I don't think aggressive should be the term used here tbh

And tbh why would anyone want what some labelled as an "agressive" T unless they wanted so "showcase it" and maybe taunt it to show "aggressive" behavior in front of an audience? Which would really be classed as defensive behavior?

Sorry peeps maybe I am just ranting as have seen a few vids of peeps being cruel to their T's ... poking n prodding to get an aggressive defensive stance n bite outta them .... but no T in my eyes is aggressive ... only defensive ....

I had one of my P. regalis on my hands earlier ...not by intent but it quickly clambered out of its commune conainer as it got spooked by a friend talking too excitedly at the feeding in the commune... then when the regalis was halfway up my arm i told my friend to "cool it" n talk quietly ... he didnt listen ... spooked the regalis by talking too loud n it started threat posing... tried to bite thru my thick hoodie... when my friend calmed down n eventually shut up it walked up n down my arm, onto my hand, over my other hand and round to my wrist, and then i managed to coax it back into the commune container ...(it was a 3" regalis) .... he said "werent u sh****ng yaself?" ... i said not until u started gobbing off n scaring it"..... goes to show ... defensive ... NOT aggressive

My first though is C. crawshayi. Their mean, get really large, and take really long to get really large lol. Id like one of these, but they grow too slow for me so i got a parahybana and hopefully soon to be genticulata.

I had the same lately with aforementioned H. lividum. I was changing and cleaning out a water dish and my girlie decided to threat up without provocation other than removing the dish.

Wife freaked out and scared me more than the spider. I few choice words came out of my out about it at the time but of course in a.. nice calm, cursing way..

She's now decided when I do anything with the `lil blue devil` she's to remove herself from the room.

Yes. Many do. Some will decide to feast outside the burrow but most I've ever seen or come across tend to retire to their den's for dinner.

There are some burrowers thats can be hidden for months and just wait for prey to enter their burrows.

well get a h.lividum if u want to be dead by the morning......just kidding...the h.lividum is by far the most friendliest and most docile tarantula in this world can you believe that this species of Ts haven't have a bite report on it??

and it loves to be handled

you also can touch it when ever you want. it is also not itchy like those new worlds and not bitey like those old worlds in short they are the most perfect Ts in the world plus they are one of the rarest Ts in the world

enjoy...i would say get a H.Lividum!:D
