what area do you collect the leaf imprints?
and sure..points are plenty good enough.
i have found that finding fossils is easier than points.
All of my fossils are purchased. The leaf imprints I bought are from Canada. I have several places that I surface collect artifacts from. Were I live finding fossils or artifacts is both hard! Fossils are very rare here though.

i have a few shark teeth and a dino egg. not sure tho. lol
looks like an egg to me , one of my kids broke it for me lol gee thanks. and its looks black inside like one of those 1000 year old eggs the chineese eat...
anyway.
i still want someone to explaine to me why a megladon is not a great white. the teeth look identical and since thats all that can fossilize on a shark, hwo do they claim its not the same? Just because its 80 feet long instead of 20 isnt a good reason to me.
anyway... i also have some smaller shark teeth that i dont know what kind they are. some are really pointy and some not so much.

I love fossils and bones. I have an amber pendant with insect inclusions and some small Megalodon teeth, plus a few other assorted small fossils, but I hope someday to have some big display pieces - I so desperately want at least one good example of a large Megalodon tooth. We have a great store in Portland called The Fossil Cartel, a good selection of minerals, fossils, and jewelry. When I really want to drool, I click over to Paleo Direct Fossils. Such nice stuff!

I just started my Invertebrate Zoology class at the University of Michigan. We have a field trip planned specifically for fossil hunting in Canada. I can't wait.

I'm actually going to be searching for some gryphea specimens from different eras here soon.

Is there a reputable place where I can buy fossils?

most excellent finds..I sure wished i was in Aussieland!!
you guys have the best stuff..have you ever collected gold nuggets?
Most of them aren't from Australia, but stuff I have purchased. In terms of collecting, I'm more into rocks. And yes, I've got a few small gold nuggets. Still waiting to strike the motherload...{D

I, too, have collected opalized ammonites! there was a really great exposure of them..they were trapped in mudstones, and when you broke open the mudstones, the glowing, pearly ammonites were there..and when we cut a few of them with a lapidary saw, the chambers inside had crystals inside them.
very impressive.
my brother was the vice president of the north texas gem and mineral society, and he really had some great rocks and such.
he gave me some amethyst cathedrals and things..though i wanted his 225 pound chunk of flourite.

Though my father, myself and now my daughter are incurable fossil hunters (we have mostly ammonites)... I never expected the girlie to do THIS! While vacationing with the grands this year in Los Lunas, NM my 13yr old daughter went on a hike with Grandpa. He's been looking for something called "the Mystery Stone" for 4 years now. They walked right straight to it on her first hike with him; there was a geologist from the University of Albq. on site when they arrived (doing whatever it is they DO). While gramps was speaking to the geologist - MY daughter was doing what she does best; picking through the rubble! lol Subsequently - she found a previously un-discovered piece of the Mystery stone itself! And RIGHT IN FRONT of the geologist! (Too proud for words, here..;) ) :D :D :D :D Does that count?
