I'm probably going to get a few new tarantulas soon. I decided to stick with NW tarantulas, and the C. cyaneopubescens is one of the more colourful of the lot. But the thing is, even though New Worlders tend to have less potent venom, I'm sort of concerned about the colouration of this species. It's well-known that many animals use bright colours as a way to indicate potent venom or poison. Considering that most other tarantulas don't have the bright colouration of C. cyaneopubescens, I'm sort of concerned as to why this species happens to be so colourful. Has anyone heard or read any information regarding the potency of this species' venom? I checked the bite reports here, but didn't see anything.

I have not read of any alarming bite reports from this species. Have you looked at the bite report section on this site? There is also a pretty good bite report section at bighairyspiders.com.
