Ants in centipede tank

I just found ants in my centipede's tank so I moved the centipede and thoroughly washed it out, threw out the substrate and put wet paper towels in so that he could go back in but how do I keep the ants
out of his tank without harming him? :cry:

Boric acid works amazing in my experience. I'm not sure if they get scared off or all die, but just a few drops of that stuff once solved an entire infestation in my kitchen literally overnight. I bought mine at Target. I believe it's only harmful if ingested, but you may want to look into that. If it's not toxic in the air, then this is the way to go.

If that's not an option, get a normal glue trap for rats/mice and place a few drops of sugar water around and on it. I did that once with a leopard gecko I had - they went for the water rather than going through the trouble of entering the cage.

A cup of salt is a myth, don't waste your time.

Good old fashioned ant traps. But I have found the rat trap idea to be far better, as ant traps go bad pretty quickly and have to be replaced often. However, they are far easier to maintain.

Only sure-fire way? Find what is attracting them, and remove it. Ants don't invade for no reason.

Last resort? I've heard that making a line of Vaseline around the cage prevents them from being able to climb inside, but I haven't tried this.
