Hey guys I’m new to the hobby I’ve posted one other thread in here so don’t kill me, but I have recently found ants in my avic enclosure. Is it to late to try and ant proof the enclosure ,does she needs to be rehoused while cleaning. If so is their a quarantine period or can I move her back in after cleaning. Thank you for your response.

Main thing to find out is are the ants coming in for water and food, or do they have a nest there? I once had ants, but they were coming in from an outside nest for water, so i moved them into a different room, put down poison, and sealed the hole they came through. They were gone within a couple weeks, and then I moved them back into my room, no casualties. The T's showed signs of distress when the ants were in the enclosure however, so rehousing might be best. If you do lay down poison I'd move your Ts away for a while, id hate for the ants to bring the poison into the ts enclosure. This all depends on where the ants are coming from though, that should be a priority after rehousing.
Id definetly remove her and clean out the enclosure thoroughly, cleaning the tank with her in there is a recipe for disaster.
There should not be a quarantine period after you clean the tank, but I wouldn't put the enclosure back in the same spot just to get reinfested by ants. I wouldnt use any strong chemicals to clean the tank.

Check out the ant bait made by Terro.
The ants take the bait back to the nest, feed it to the other ants thereby killing the ant colony. No poisons to spread around.

I used something similar, however if their nest is in the cage, they could easily bring it in. Thats why I suggested moving them.

I've never used raid ant traps.
Terro is available most everywhere, Lowe's, Walmart, Home Depot.

Bait types like the ones mentioned above are best. I dont know how the raid ant trap works, but you dont need terro specifically.

Raid ant traps don't work, go with Terro. I had a similar situation with my Avics enclosure and I flood them out of the substrate where they had started a nest. I wouldn't suggest that method, just get the Terro ant traps and those should work.

I have any problems when the weather gets hot or when it rains. I have not had issues with ants making their way to the T enclosures, but I’ve had issues with them infesting my feeder bin.
What I do is put double sided tape down around the area I’m protecting and it has worked well. I specifically use tape that is easy to remove like alien tape, not the double sided scotch tape that usually is difficult to remove from surfaces.
