Yes Tom, I am aware that my observance is lacking is taxonomic value, but I was not expecting to be called out on my comment, lol. Just my opinion from the variance I've witness in this genus.

No calling out here my friend, since this is the discussion forum, I figured i'd ask more about your oddballs:) I am by no means a tarantula taxonomist, just a hobbyist, with and interest in the genus.

Later, Tom

With these kind of posts being made, there will be a need for a "tarantula rumor" subforum. I bet next month on the classifieds we will see Theraphosa sp. "Goliath Velvet Stripe Knee" for sale.
Agreed, Fran is Arachnoboars own oversized gossipgirl.

Needs to be said though, my newest MM blondi, bought as burgundy and depicted in my other thread on mating, is showing strong purple gleam on the carapace when I aim my flashlight at him. Not seen that before.

Hi Fran, what about when you said this ?..........

Here we go :) that looks like a plain big ole T blondi to me.I have owned hundreds of blondis, and I have seen quite more... I don know about you guys, but now seems like everything is a "Burgundy"...And that darn word doesnt even a real fact behind the idea. ;)
and this....
In my opinion, till theres science behind it, nothing leads me to believe they are aything different than T blondi. In the same specie theres slighly diff patterns of coloration or "fuzzyness" and it does not mean is a different one...

Sorry I just can't help myself tonight, tee hee ;P{D

And I still think I was abolutely correct at the time!!!

Again, read it "till theres science behind it"...I absolutely stand for it 100% ;) (In fact not even till a month ago no science was behind that burgundy stuff...And is still a bit "in the air", if you know what mean.

Dont tell me you have not seen MANY adult blondi with very little noticeable setae on the patella. One thing is a juvie, another is a WC blondi.

Edit: Also, to my defense :) , I had not seen and compared both sp till I came to the US. Everything I have ever seen in Europe was Blondi.

I can confirm that Fran isn't just pulling things from his rear, he's not trying to start a rumor, although I can see why people would think that, since he has not named any sources, but there's a good reason for that.

if you take a look on this boards you will see someone menctioning this possible 4th sp several years ago. ;)
I'm wondering, has anyone actually searched for this?

Hi,
Can anyone tell me anything about the Theraphosa species with the strong hotpink flashing on the carapace in adult females. This species is definately from Venezuela and is not the same one as the new one like T.apophysis (without the pink feet in juvies), but something different and quite colourful in comparison to the other Theraphosa. Looks similar in colouration to P.ultramarinus, except obviously a lot larger and from the genus Theraphosa.

No, sorry I cannot give out ANY info about this.

So, does anyone know anything about these???

Thanks,
Steve
That said, Rudd (Buggin' with Rudd) had shown a new tarantula for the first time ever on film too, a new Theraphosa species, but that one seems to have slipped under everyones radar for some reason, nice animal too ;) I don't know if he actually knew at the time (or does now), but it was a new species regardless.

Thanks Zoltan!

About a Month ago, Steve and I had a conversation about Theraphosa. When we talked about this new sp, before he menctioned that he actually saw it on a video, I right away told asked him.."Hey...Wouldnt be this one the one you are reffering to???? I have seen something on this video..."

PS:Seems like is impossible to give any info without "killing" the source...
