I'll probably end up with tons of T's
like every other thing I get into...... =D
Just how strong are these things?
Is a screen top or a critter keeper (plastic)
sturdy enough for them? I don't want anyone
getting out. I have a cat and 2 dogs, the T's
would be in danger if they escaped!
Not to mention a hubby who hates spiders, they'd
be shoe goo if he found them! I know he's not well, I'll get him to change, I always do.

;P
He'll learn to love them or he'll sleep in the garage!!;P

sunnymarcie Critter keepers work well Sreen tops are ok. Just make sure they're secure.

I know alllllll about the T hating hubby.
I have one too.

But the twins are getting him past it.
he really doesn't have a choice But to get past it.
Those two little girls of ours LOVE thier spiders and defend them varociously.

Just, don't be evil like me and through a fake spider at him screaming ' She got away!!!!"

Or search the bed while he's waking up and when he asks what your looking for look at him casualy and say. "Well Sunshine. (One of our rosies) Likes nice warm places and shes not in her viv... so..."

T hating hubbies do a near sylvester when you do that......

Yes... I AM an evil impish B*tich...

;P

HI

Hi

Screentops with metallic screens are not good for bigger T's since they can get stuck IME.

My big 6 inch + Chaco got stuck that way and no more topscreens with metallic net.

It's better to measure size of tank, ( if it's a tank ) and make a fiberglass topscreen with holes in it.

Also remember to fill the tank all the way up with substrate so the T can reach and touch the substrate and ceiling at the same time, because if it's a big T,, a fall will be deadly if the distance between substrate and ceiling is to high.

Kenny:)

Funny ~:0)

@Nixy, That sounds like something I WOULD do!
ROTFLMAO!!!

As for the T housing, I think it's going to
have to be the critter keepers, because we
do not have a lot of room. Tanks would take up
more space.:D

Also, never forget the joys of homemade (el cheapo) housing. Deli containers, pickle jars, beanie baby cases, clear(er) plastic boxes sold for storage, etc.

I use KK type enclosures for my larger specimens, but use whatever is convenient for the smaller ones.

To your origional question, T's are not that strong. As long as the screen top is secured, the T will not get out. They are not that smart either. Even if they are capable of pushing the screentop aside, they will not do that. Just make sure the screen top is secured. I agree with M_C. You don't have to go out and buy tanks and other expensive stuff. There are plenty of ways you can make T's cages out of from stuff around the house. This is if you are planning to expand your collection to a couple dozens like myself. If you plan to expand your collection to a couple hundreds, well... that's another story. Here is an advice on how to get more T's without your hubby noticing. Just leave a lot of empty containers lying around. He will never notice a difference. That's what I do anyway.

sunnymarcie my favorite "juvie enclosure" is a well washed cheeseball tub.. I also use pretzle tubs and for the S'lings I use the little 16 onz "tupperwear." type container you can get at a dollar store 4 for a buck. Poke a few holes.. ( I use a heated fork I keep aside just for melt poking holes in plastic containers...)
They stack nice and are easy to deal with and come in an assortment of colors and shapes....

Heres a link to a page showing one of my cheese ball tub "vivareums"

Iam.
LOLOLOL.
I have ten or twelve jars, tubs and two kritter keepers set up waiting for T's. Your RIGHT. Usualy I can toss in a new T and he doesn't notice.

The things are already there and he avoids looking in them Anyway.

Looking around in the kitchen

I found some food containers that should work
out good for me. I've spent most of the morning
washing them and poking some holes in them.
Now I'm ready for some new spiders. =D
I like the fact that you can stack them, as I
am very limited when it comes to space.
The really cool thing is, that my hubby will
probably never notice the new spiders, because
he NEVER goes into the boys room!~ and that's
where all of our bugs live!! I'm not even sure
that he knows that we have any, accept for the Rosie;P =D

Our's are in my former dinning room. Which is now my computer room / small critter area.

My hubby DID try to say No more spiders. The twins looked at him with quivery chins and said. "But daddy we LOVE our spider babies....." And started the hitching and tearing up.

That was that......

I think we're getting the other Chevie today.

Faith gave daddy the "Plllleeeeeeaaase can I have my other chevie baby daddy it's Sooooooooooo cute and I will just loves it forevers."

He groaned and said....." what time does the shop open........"

LOL.

The girls are getting their shoes on to go to the store. =D

Now they just have to kiss all their spiders. Which they do daily.

The enclosiers all have little twin lip prints all over them :)
