Anole lizards as a feeder option

I was curious if anyone has fed thier adult/sub-adult T's Anoles on occasion to vary the T's diet. I have a 5.5" P. regalis and an adult female B. boehmei that I was thinking about feeding the lizards to. I wanted to know if the critters are too tough for a T to handle. Thier mass isn't too different from a pinky mouse but they are adult animals and may have better tools to defend themselves thereby putting my beloved T's in harms way. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Wow. I've never thought of bearded dragons as a food item. Do you live in Australia or something? LOL.

I've got a beautiful beardy that is turning out to be one handsome dude.

hm.

depends on the size. If it is really big dont because chaces are the lizzard will fight back and possible bite a leg. Mid size yes. I fed my b smithi a pinky mouse one time. It took her about 10 min to figure out it was food but she ate it. The problem with live animals like that is that you have to discard of the corpses quickly or else they will stink up your room really bad and really fast.

I mean if you go out in the wilderness and see other big spiders. They eat big bugs and lizzards. There are bird eating t's for god sakes lol. So a little lizzard wont hurt it but probably help it. (protein)

You could always stun the anoles before feeding them out.

I only feed anoles to my big spiders like T. blondi, L. parahybana, and L. klugii. I tried giving one to my female P. rufilata and she basically just impaled it and left it for dead.

anoles are great feeders for aboreal t's...not as a staple grant it..but every once in awhile, they are greatly appreciated....i've never feed them to terrestrial t's as they are great climbers and most dont notice them unless you force it into a burrow lol....

well i see some deal with dead ones i guess that works but why not just us a pinkie:?

i have fed anoles to my rosey, pink toe. they did away with them pretty fast & only left the tail. not the staple of their diet, more like a treat!

Do you mean dead like the skink was toxic or dead like the skink fought back and fatally injured them?

it sounds like you are making what i consider a common mistake when vert feeding... the prey should be pretty tiny compared to the spider or you do end up with a mess and a stink... but i have never had any problems feeding pinkies to non-premolt tarantulas of >=5"DLS. in fact, i can hardly tell the mousy bolus from the roach bolus.

i would suggest feeding frozen thawed or prekilled pinkies though... death by tarantula is NOT clean and it is NOT fast!

good gods! i think this is a prime example of why most people strongly suggest not to feed wild caught prey. aside from inherint natural defenses that a lot of species possess you never know what "bonus" toxins or parasites or whatnot something is going to carry. sorry to hear that man!

also, unless metallica is joking i expect that he has the beardies in the fridge from breeding failures or something... not because he enjoyes using bearded dragons as feeders. probably.

They would want to be in the fridge lol. Unless they were juvis I think you would be asking for trouble feeding bearded dragons to a T. I've got no doubt that an adult bearded dragon could dispose of the largest of T's.

a friend of mine breeds bearded dragons professionally. all young that miss tails/ toes and such he freezes for me.
