yes if they will spawn i think i have a few pairs in the group but they are really hard to tell apart. also they are really hard to breed in captivity without the use of hormones. bowfin on the other hand are dimoprhic
the males have real bright green and red on them and a spot on their tale and the females either have no spot or a very pale spot on their tail. also the females color is no where near as right as the males.
i have heard from various bowfin keepers these will spawn in capitvity if you give them a large pond with alot of plants. i also hope to breed fresh water stingrays too one day once i get my store oing in a nearby state.

You need artificial hormones to breed the gar? Wow. Good luck!

They have spawned for people before in home aquariums an large museum aquariums but its really rare. The worlds gar for the pet trade are mostly bred in Mexico. I have seen a video on youtube of a pair of a florida gars spawning in a home aquarium. Also the florida gars, cuban gars, and tropical gars would be alot easier to spawn because of their smaller adult size. Cuban gars and tropical gars are still very rare in the u.s and demand a high price similar to a ball morph.

I'm not into snakes so I'm assuming your talking about Ball Pythons, of which I have no clue that would cost, but it sounds like a lot. Too bad gar are under pressure in the wild. I saw them at the Shedd and they are pretty awesome.

Currently no Ts. Gave them all away to set up a nice aquarium. Currently have 2 rescued Eastern Painted Turtles in with a few fast enough fish. It's a native species tank, so it's set up to look like a slice of a pond, behind glass.

Check put turtleforum. Great site.
