Amethyst Filistatid Spider

Hi Guys!

Just wanted to introduce this unique, beautiful amethyst-colored filistatid spider that me and my colleague described last year from southern Iran, and named it: Sahastata amethystina Marusik & Zamani, 2016

The photo is of the holotype female, by Ali Mohajeran.

It sure looks like a purple Kukulcania, and the thing is that it might belong to a separate genus of its own, findings of males in future should clear that up! It was collected from a dry, warm, rocky habitat of sparse Arecaceae forest.
