@Cecelias lair I don't know where in Europe, and I believe I can't say which spider shop in this part of the forum, although he does have an April classified ad and i think it is ok for me to private message you. Let me know.

They are very pretty! And they are more laid back? Are they also hardy? I will have to research and see if I can find any for sale
Slings can be skittish but juvies/adults are very chill in my experience, very easy to care for, max out at a couple of inches.

Na, it's Neischnocolus sp. "Colombia" but for some reason the picture he's used is N. sp. "Panama"
You're right, but reading the blurb it says they are "probably" the same species. I don't really know what to make of that!

@Cecelias lair it seems by you quite rare. There’s only handful that behave this way, and most are not in the hobby.

I did notice them in the spider shop and was wondering if they're a good alternative. They're quite pretty too . . .

I'm really liking the look of Neischnocolus sp. Panama so I think I will go with one of them. From what I've gathered their care and husbandry is basic? Which will be another plus as I'm leaning more towards a simple and hardy tarantula. I have experience with spiders but I'm not feeling 100% confident with my knowledge for tarantulas. So I think I need something that can handle a couple of mistakes if I make any.

When I looked them up I was coming across the name "Neischnocolus panamanus during the search and I'm confused as some people were saying it's the same species and others were saying it wasn't. I just wanna make sure I don't buy another species by mistake lol

Not the same species.

Neischnocolus sp. "Panama" is what used to be known as Ami sp. "Panama".
Neischnocolus panamanus is what used to be known as Ami bladesi.

I just wanna give a big thank you to everyone who replied on this thread. It was very much appreciated and enlightening to hear about more beginner species that don't get mentioned much. I guess dwarfs just don't get so much love and attention

A correction is needed by me. In my quest for info about H. chilensis I thought I had well searched the species here. But i missed this posting from just a few months ago. Thanks BoyFromLA. And Pantherophis researched the name change (spoiler : has to do with gender of the taxanomic name).
Now how about the pronounciation?

Chil - ense (like sense)

or

Chil - en - see

Don’t give up on finding a H. chilense….I found a 1cm sling at the Western Invert Show in Bristol (England) last weekend- seller had a couple of them! Mine is already living up to its reputation, really busy and curious- an absolute treasure!

I've been doing research and figuring out what I wanted my first taranula will be, I decided on a Homoeomma chilensis. This species ticked all the boxes for me (besides the price tag haha) but being in the UK, I've been finding it impossible to find them anywhere. Now my birthday is coming up in a couple of days so I'm deciding on an alternative to buy instead.

Things that appeals to me are their colours, their docile yet curious nature, being a slow grower and being a dwarf.
Do any other dwarf species compare? Or should I just go for a Aphonopelma or Grammostola?
