Alipes multicostis Progress Thread

I recently got an Alipes multicostis, and on this thread I will be posting its progress. It's at a 2.5" BL, give or take. It is a very timid centipede (especially for its size), and it looks like it'll be very easy to socialize.

Man I forgot how much I need one.
I had one as one of my first centipedes, and it died because of an inappropriate substrate. 3 years later I still didn't get another, out of laziness. Such a shame. Next time, I promise. lol

What was the substrate? I'm keeping mine on straight peat moss with some sphagnum moss for decor. You definitely need to.

Didn't know coco husk was detrimental to their health. That sucks man I'll keep it in mind thank you.

newbie here. What's wrong with coco husk?

Well when it is used alone centipedes tend to desiccate very quickly and if you do nothing they die.. at least it's what happened. But I fed it the evening before so might have been a poisoned cricket.

I use coir/cocofiber for all my centipedes. Mine have very minimal ventilation though and so are always humid, and Alipes probably likes it with more air, so coir might dry out faster. Perhaps adding peat, soil, or even just misting more often can help keep them happy.

I love this species! Along with Akymnopellis chilensis, Alipes is a small but beautiful genus I've wanted for a long time but can never find.

I maybe was unclear; the substrate I used is like chunks of coco husk, "pieces" roughly 1cm long. Obviously not appropriate :/
