Well there's just about any worm you could buy ex. meal, super, earthworm too . Depending on how big your specimen is your feeding maybe some type of vertebrate ex. pinky, anole, house gecko. Up to you

I hate to say this but you might should have thought of this before hand. Since it IS Summer, I would guess you have some nice big grasshoppers out there in Utah? That will get you by for awhile but I dont know what you'll do when Winter comes and you might just have to listen to some noisy crickets

yea I do but they sprayed the field were I catch them and I dont know about other fields because I dont live right next to them. and I am afraid that the hoppers that survied will have some of the pesticide on them. a few of my scorps are big enought to eat pinkys, but I am looking for something I can breed

I think the best choice is to inform your parents about these roaches. Tell them how different they are from the disease carrying pest roaches. Inform them that they are tons better then crickets, don't smell, hardy, good breeders, not loud.

I honestly never had exp. with them yet, but from seeing how many people are using them as feeders & pets kinda tells you somthing. I will hopefully start a small colony for my self later on.

g'd luck

Kid, I buy my crickets at PetCo. I have three containers of them right now (pinhead, medium and large). I have not heard a peep out of any of them at any time. Go figure.

Ok crickets only stink if you keep them over crowded and in warm damp enclosures, I keep mine on sand, i put a tub of soil in for them to lay, then remove it to incubate the eggs. Keep them warm but dry and they will not stink. Well unless you stick your head in the tank. If they do start to stink i just change the sand. Feed them dry producs, and beg gell, give them the ocastion wet treat lik cucumber carros etc.

Well speaking out of experience, brown or silent crickets aren't always silent  but they are a million times better than black crix

I figure that the only crix that make noise are the jumbo ones. My large very very rarely chirp and of course the smaller ones not a peep. Im also starting to collect crix from by backyard there smaller but they can jump up to my chest and im about 5'10.5. They also look slighlt different than storebought but when im broke thats my only option.

Have you considered rearing mealworms?

It's as simple as a bucket of oats and a couple cans of worms. It takes awhile to get started, but once they get up and running you should never run out of feeders.

And to stop them borrowing away from your scorpions you can chop of their little legs :)

I know most people like to feed live food but some species (perhaps most or all species) will take dead food. You could buy your crickets and freeze them right away. Thaw as needed. It might be a solution to your problem.

I noticed this too. I bought a small box of crix at a store here....about 30 in a box and they were all female crix which are silent. Males make the noise of course, females don't. It made me wonder if the supplier came up with a hormone or something like that to produce mostly female crix(?).:? I was just starting to raise my own crickets so I had to go to another store that had some male crix. A. kid, if you don't have allot of inverts to feed, well, I go to street lights sometimes. But I don't know if you can even drive yet to get to one.

I have told my parents about how the roaches dont stink and are not filthy disease carrying pests. If my parents have heard something they dont like they stick with it. like Blue bellied lizards have poison, they still belive they do. and the meal worm idea might not be bad though. But all and all my parents are so parinoid of bugs in the house they are still shakey of my scorps. I cannot drive either {D

Sucks man. Just keep persuading and informing them bout the roaches. And make some kind of deal with your parents.
