Glad you are still around my man! Hope all is well.Eh I'll keep em for that price
Hey bro how you been? Yea I lurk in shame and only post when necessary. Lol.. I gave some higher ups some crap about the forum and was pretty rude about it. The forum is actually pretty good ATM l haven't wanted to throw my phone at the wall in a long time..Glad you are still around my man! Hope all is well.
I did not know that thanks man.. Yea we love them here but I'm focusing very heavy on captive propagation of Tokay Geckos, my house is over run with them. I'm also breeding Rhacodactylus so they would fund other projects and honestly every inch of shelf space helps.. Idk though it would/maybe will be really hard to let them go.An issue with them is that theyre VERY male heavy...which means females arent exactly abundant, and most with them arent willing to give them up.
Hey wait for me to make up my mind about selling them before you go flooding the marketWould say probably 200-300.
From what i have seen, even european prices for the species is still ptetty expensive.
Have seen slings usually for about 70, but recently a couple people have been selling for about 30 each.
For females i havent noticed any US for sale really, but a UK i saw one for 150£ (probably like $180) and even accross the pond i am not seeing a lot of availability. (Granted, i don’t know a lot of sources over there either)
Still kinda puzzling though. From what i have heard they are supposed to be pretty simple to breed, and and they grow quickly enough that i wouldn’t expect such a shortage of them. Personally, i have 2.2 sunadult and 0.3 adults coming to me soon, so gonna make it a project to help increase the availability of the species. See if we can’t drive the price down a bit too. They are a great speces, son’t get me wrong, but 80-125 for a sling is just loony. Its not like they are brand new or something. LOL
Don’t worry, you got a while yet, even if everything goes perfect. LOLHey wait for me to make up my mind about selling them before you go flooding the market![]()
Man, always good to see you, and lurking is not shameful. At least you have good info to offer to all the new peopleHey bro how you been? Yea I lurk in shame and only post when necessary. Lol.. @cold blood
That's more along the lines of what I thought.. Bout 350 sounds like alot but I haven't found any females for sale and slings in my neck o the woods are between $80-125 the latter is a rediculous price for a sling granted but people are paying it, it seems.. Both factors made me scoff at the $200 estimate. I can see someone hard up or fed up ditching them for that price but I'm neither. Right now..
I'm honestly, most likely going to breed them.. It was dream for like 4 years seems kinda stupid not too..
Thanks man..likewise I feel like we are OG's...Man, always good to see you, and lurking is not shameful. At least you have good info to offer to all the new people
Yeah, 125 for that species, crazy price to me, esp a species that isn't that difficult to breed. But a bunch of new people, or people w/fat wallets, don't have appreciation for what prices should be/could be.
So true my man, I'm telling you @cold blood and I have been talking about prices for years. There's a few species that have kept and remained at their value since I first started. Expensive Ts used to be 45-65, now it seems that range is 85-300 for SLINGS! A lot of these are species that we know nothing about, new people buy on looks along more/less, and end up with a pretty new "toy", that dies soon after because they don't know husbandry. But, when I see sellers at shows selling P mets to parents for their kids..that's worse. Thanks man..likewise I feel like we are OG's...
I couldn't agree more.. I almost in shock when I saw what larger breeders and some other people are charging for slings.. I used to charge those prices for similar slings in the 2 inch range.. I leave for 6 months and everyones doubled prices.. Hobby is becoming more mainstream and as you say those that don't know better or have enough cash are paying a premium..
Youve really seen this? That seems very wrong on multiple levels!!But, when I see sellers at shows selling P mets to parents for their kids..that's worse.
Yeah, I don't lie haha I've seen it at least 10 times. Then I tell them about medically significant venom, if it tags your 10 yr old son or you, you may be going to the ER room most likely.........they buy a Rosie.Youve really seen this? That seems very wrong on multiple levels!!
Yea man it's outrageous, I sold a 3 inch female genic for 50 bucks 6 months ago thought it was a fair price now I see slings for close to that alone! I knew the guy and ended up giving him 5 of my adult avics just so I had shelf space.. That's what I used to love about this hobby in particular people allways hooked each other up and stayed friendly..Now I have people that I sent thousands of dollars in spiders to for dirt and they won't even return my calls.. Idk it's crazy..So true my man, I'm telling you @cold blood and I have been talking about prices for years. There's a few species that have kept and remained at their value since I first started. I’ve never been to been to one of these shows, so I’m a little shocked that this happens all the time at these things. I can both believe it and not believe it. Obviously people will do anything to make a buck but selling venomous spiders that will go to kids, who will be more inclined to think all tarantulas should and can be handled is messed up.Yeah, I don't lie haha I've seen it at least 10 times. Trust me man, there are so many idiots at herp shows now, far more than ever. I used to hope that attendance would grow etc, more people valuing these exotic animals. Now I regret the explosive growth, it has let in all the idiots. Example, people walking around who know nothing, about nothing, and say "oh I like that one, I want it....."
