So what they say is true.. Once I got my first T I wanted more. Today I received my second T, a p.murinus sling, and here I find myself later in the day, browsing the internet for yet another T I want to get. I'm looking at the Brachypelma auratum. It looks awesome, but I can't find much info on it. If anybody has one that can let me in on the details, it would be great!

Me too. I've got 2 so far within 2 months and I dedicate 3-5 hours daily planning my next 2.

Yes Shane - It's a disease w/ a fast progression....

There is a cure though, Buying Scorpions! :D Good Luck.

Funny how my Black "Labrador" is actually from Newfoundland......She is addicted to Tennis-balls like I am Tarantulas.

Alright mate. You want an Auratum? I can tell you, they are awesome. I have one and its the most easy T to care for. (atleast in my collection)

Give it a hide, give it a water dish and give it some dry substrate. Believe it or not, that is it.

Other than that it is a docile and calm specie. You can handle it without a problem. Brachypelmas are probably the best Ts for someone new in the hobby in my opinion.

Thats awesome. It kinda sounds like my buddy's Brachy. He's got a B.smithi and its so easy to care for, just water and substrate and a little hide. Huge appetite and his is growing so fast! So its a really interesting T, not to mention it looks sweet!

B Auratum sling

Awesome T, but I'm naturally partial to the Brachy's, having over 80 along with some pink-toe's, rose-hair, stripe-knee, etc. Something about their gorgeous red-orangish black color, and their gentle nature. Auratum's are at the top of the brachy list, since they are much less common than smithi's. I've kept my many smithi's and vagans under a variety of conditions.. high-low humidity, winter temps below 65 degrees, and even though I'm a relative novice, they are all well and thriving. These things are bullet-proof. The only potential draw back I can see with the auratum is the relatively high price.

As someone who works with the pain-in-the-butt Labs every weekday, I agree. :D

I know what everyone means about addiction to T's. I've been looking around for someone in the hobby that has space for a roommate so I can add a lot more tarantulas.

If I get any males, I'd like to trade them for Psalmopoeus pulcher, GBB, P.regalis or others I like to expand the no. of species.

(I know, I am terrible at staying on topic... especially if the discussion has turned to dogs!)

I work with and trained a few labs for hunting, and showed a few in conformation... I'd take ANY other breed for either purpose! lol
Yes, I really don't like them :p

You can't go wrong with a B. auratum.

A tip for you and other noobs is to order several T's at a time. It saves you on shipping costs and keeps you busy until you can get more.:D

Haha yeah thats what i've been going ordering a couple at a time. Either that or going halfs on shipping with one of my friends. I've been looking around lately for a B.Auratum but can't seem to find one around. Seems like they are sort of uncommonish lol

I was thinking the same thing, but this guy is in Canada. He would have to contact Paul and see if he can ship there. I have a feeling he doesn't.
My Bad....Spacing off and wasn't paying attention to his location...
