so what's the deal with moss? i go to different pet stores and they have frog moss, beaked moss, sphagnum moss, terrarium moss, etc. what's the difference? i bought a bag that is labeled as "Terrarium Moss/Beaked Moss". Some care sheets will say substrate being cocofiber mixed with peat moss...

Do Ts prefer one or the other?

I see crickets will eat away at the moss and also hide in it.

Everyone packages their moss under different titles that are usually fairly meaningless. Most are probably some sort of sphagnum, but I've seen pillow moss and other types sold as well.

However, the peat moss you are referring to is not actually moss. Sphagnum peat moss is the decomposed remnants of what was once sphagnum moss. Sphagnum moss dies, decomposes under the surface and is then mined. It is no longer moss and resembles dirt or compost.

I see no need to mix peat moss and coco fibre for substrate. Use straight coco fibre, or use straight peat moss. Both are used by hundreds of hobbyists and both work very well.
