A hentzi unscheduled molt

I have a tiny (around 1 in) A hentzi for a few years now (bought 10/07). It would molt not very frequently for the t that size.

The record shows: 4/15/08, 6/18/08, 7/11/09, 6/9/10 and a surprised 8/12/10.

For those who have one, what's your experience?

Ours(Yoshimi) was 1" or so when we got it. It is now a little over 2"(rough eye guesstimate)

It is fond of disappearing for months at a time and the entire winter has been spent in its burrow, having 'me' time both years. Feeding regimen and temperatures will make growth vary, so I wouldn't worry about its size.

Ugh! I shouldn't have read this I'd heard they are very very slow growers, but I really didn't think they were that slow.

I have a 1" sling a the moment. Think if I do manage to breed some P. murinus, i'll be regifting it to someone else

I think they are stunning and well worth the wait!

I thought that it was on a yearly molting cycle. But apparently yours is on a more progressive molting schedule. If mine stays on this path, it'll be 2 inch in like 5 more years.

Feed it more frequently, and keep the temps at 80F.

I offer it food once a week. But it only feed once a month may be less. I keep all my ts at room temp. It's pretty warm in summer in the high 80s during the day. Winter can be as cold as low 50s.

I have a B albopilosum that I got at the same time, around same size, she's almost a mature female now.

Does it act scared of the feeder? Ours is a scaredy cat and will often run from the roach. Try smaller prey if it is.

The lower winter temps may be part of the reason it hasn't grown as fast. Also, comparing the growth rates of 2 separate species, won't give an accurate gauge of expected growth.
