Last night I tried balie (golden knee) on tiny crickets. I only put a couple in. I figured they would either be eaten fast or in a few days I would remove them.. now I know it will be a little while till the next moult. I stood watching as balie lined up the target engaged hunt mode... And jumped like puss in boots, landing next to the cricket which jumped to a safe spot.
Balie then spent the next couple of minutes acting like the world had ended... Every other step the little guy turned to see if the cricket was back. And when there was no cricket he/she did a threat pose. This happened all the way back to the hide. Then a now very sulky sling turned around and sat looking defeated... Until I showed the little guy/girl the cricket was in the hide.

Hah ! Yes, crickets will often run into the hide. It looks to be a safe spot... until the T decides to wander in... ;)

LoL, I love the entertainment value keeping spiders can bring. And I especially enjoyed your telling of this particular experience...almost poetic...like one of those poetry readings the beatniks would do with someone working the bongo drums in the background:
"Last night I tried balie (golden knee) on tiny crickets"
[badadadadadadadada]
"I only put a couple in."
[da da da *TSING*]
...or to music, like that "Spill the Wine" song, LoL. I very much enjoyed reading your story, as much as I enjoyed the story itself....
Thank you!
