1. Are they slow growers because I've had my 1/4" sling for roughly 5 months, she hasn't molted once, and all the other supposed "slow growing" species slings that I purchased along with it have molted at least once already.

2. She will burrow into a small hole and then seal the hole up from time to time. What is the purpose of this?
