Jacen,
Yes they are caught in the USA Mostly in AZ, in higher elevations. Great spider that can have a temper compared to some other aphonopelmas, "says the puncture wond on my hand"
Wow, I am assuming it is a female with a fat butt like that - baby got back Very nice chocolate color. Is it true what was said about them having a bit of a temper? Did you collect her yourself?
Gail,
This is the only A. behlei I've ever cared for, so i dont know their temperment as a whole. Mine is calm overall. I can pick her up and hold her. So maybe I got lucky and collected a sweetie
I collected her in the Tucson area at about 6000 ft. elev. in the mountains. The burrow was under a lg. rock. The nice thing about rock burrows is, when you lift them to collect the spider, I can flood out the T, then replace the rock and its ready for its next owner. No real damage to the home or landscape.
The only real problem is, its 115 deg. outside while collecting
Sweating my a$$ off.
