I believe the Avics wait for them to come to their funnel. That's what mine seems to do, then again I always just put it there and she goes for it, I don't know for sure what they do in the wild.
All my avic species actively hunt away from their web hides. I tend to not offer food nearly as frequently if they are not leaving the webbing.

I think it's an A. avicularia according to the thread title... I could be mistaken though...:sorry:
Thank you, I read everything in the thread looking (twice), yet still failed to see it in the title.:banghead::bag:

I will weigh in saying misting once a day is not good for your A. avicularia use deeper substrate moisten it and allow it to dry completely then moisten it again this will create more than enough humidity for your Avics i personally believe that more inexperienced keepers kill their Avic slings by over misting them then kill them by letting them get to dry. As most of us are worried about our new charges however our Ts are far hardier than most of us realize.

Just read another thread with the same concerns. They're not called pet rocks/holes for nothing.

Cresteds and water dragons ROCK. Lus, I don't know, but if you haven't looked through the forum threads on Avics, I would STRONGLY suggest you do so. All of your concerns in this thread have been asked here in the past few weeks by new owners like yourself, and some of the behavior/s you are concerned about are natural to all Ts known to man to the best of science's knowledge.

I have a few Ts that will remain in place for days on end. Remember, when a snake lays out to catch some rays, or a crestie hangs upside down, no one things twice the owners have the knowledge to answer those questions.

It would do your cherished pet a lot of good if you read the forum A LOT. Especially because you are new, Avics are the one genus we see so frequently bought by new owners and within a month or two are dying/dead because people don't make the time to learn about the exotic wild animal they own.

I'm not saying you haven't mind you, but if you haven't, definitely do so.

If you can handle cresties, you SHOULD be able to handle a T, even an Avic, but only IF you do research. If you don't, it will be dead in a short time IMO.

any T will just sit there for a long while if it feels the urge to i had a OBT once that would set out in the center of its cage for days at a time not seeming to move but if your not watching it all the time you can not definitively say it is not moving it just may not move when your around

that is so true. Cant tell you how many times i come into my room. and when i turn my lights on, will find my t's in some strange position for what seems like days on end.

But as soon as i turn my lights out, and look into the enclosure will see them moving, Spreading substrate around, webbing their hide, taking a walk over to their water dish ETC. only to freeze as soon as i turn the light back or go back to the same weird position and act like they never moved.
