Those watts you work if have the thermostat or dimmer properly controlling temperatures.I have a dimmer but not a thermostat, I just figured a 40 or 50 watt might get it into ok temperatures to leave on 24/7 for an 8x8x8 exo terra? What wattage do you think might accomplish that? Thanks for the help!
Basking lamps require a dimming thermostat or dimmer.
CHE require a proportional thermostat.
My thermostat runs basically 12 hours but my night settings are such that it basically shuts itself if set temperature matches my room's ambient temperature. If not, its run very very dimly for another twelve hours. Mini halogens run alot longer than a standard bulbs and usually more stronger than standard bulbs of the same wattage. So they are easier on my thermostat (its wattage limit) and easier on the electric. But the CHE have the longest life of all.
